Simonds Group (51°57'N., 128°17'W.), centered about 6 miles N of Spider Island, consists of two large and many small islands. 11.41 Purple Bluff (51°56'N., 128°18'W.), the W extremity of the largest island of the Simonds Group, is conspicuous. It is 75m high and terminates in high, bold, and purple tinted cliffs.
