Santa Barbara de Samana (19°12'N., 69°20'W.) (World Port Index No. 11000) is a small port where cargo operations are carried out by the use of lighters. Pilotage is compulsory and pilots meet vessels just outside the harbor entrance. Anchorage may be obtained at the head of the port, in a depth of 7.3m. The holding ground is good, but space is re stricted.
