East Loch Tarbert (57°54'N., 6°48'W.) is entered between Rubha Bhocaig (57°50'N., 6°44'W.), the E extremity of Reibinish, and Rubha Crago (57°53'N., 6°40'W.). The loch contains numerous rocks throughout its length, but transit can be accomplished during daylight hours. Terrain adjacent to the loch is rocky, desolate and without vegetation. Bare hills rise to mountains in the interior. Scalpay, an island, along with numer ous islets and rocks, lie in the entrance of the loch. Two navi gable channels lead into the loch N and SW of Scalpay.
