From Anderson Reef, the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef extends in a N direction about 51 miles to the S end of Ribbon Reef (14°56'S., 145°42'E.). Ribbon Reef is 16 miles long and about 0.7 mile wide. For more information, see paragraph 7.2 under the heading "Navigation in the Great Barrier Reef."
