Reka Apuka (60°27'N., 169°35'E.) flows into the sea through a lagoon which is separated from the sea by a sand and shingle spit. The valley through which Reka Apuka flows trends NE and is open, forming a good mark for this locality. Apuka is a village situated on the high ground on the W side of the entrance, and in this vicinity are a radio station, weather station, and an electric power plant.
