PRESQU'ILE DE ST. LAURENT

Presqu'ile de St. Laurent (48°31'N., 4°46'W.), the NW extremity of France, is a small irregular and hilly peninsula which stands 11 miles ENE of Ile d’Ouessant. The coast between this peninsula and Pointe Sainte-Mathieu, 11 miles S, is indented and fronted by rocks, shoals, and reefs which extend, in places, over 2 miles offshore. Several small harbors lie along this stretch of coast, but they are only used by small craft and fishing boats with local knowledge. A conspicuous water tower stands 1 mile E of Presqu’ile de St. Laurent.
