Baia de Santo Antonio (1°39'N., 7°27'E.) (World Port Index No. 46375) is entered between Ponta Capitao and Ponta da Garca, 2.5 miles S. The inner part of this bay is not easily distinguished from seaward and the shores are rocky with numerous sandy coves. The town of Santo Antonio stands near the head and is fronted by a small wharf, which is used by small craft. It is situated on a plain, sheltered by wooded hills, and is sometimes inundated by the sea. The houses are built mainly of wood and stand on piles. The climate is hot and humid.
