PASSE DE LA BOUDEUSE
Submitted by admin on Sat, 01/31/2009 - 17:15.
Passe de la Boudeuse (17°36'S., 149°17'W.) is narrowed by a shoal extending about 0.2 mile from the islet on its N side. There is a rock, with a depth of less than 2m in the middle of the pass, and Mouillage de Bougainville, inside the barrier reef N of the pass, is encumbered with numerous isolated shoals. This pass and anchorage should not be used without local knowledge as a swell rolls unobstructed through the pass. This anchorage is unsafe in winds between the S and E.
