Lavrion (37°43'N., 24°04'E.), a town, stands along the W and NW sides of a small bay which lies 1.3 miles N of Akra Fonias and forms a natural harbor. Akra Ergastiria, the E end of a small and hilly peninsula, forms the N entrance point of the bay. This point is marked by a light; a reef, with a depth of 5m, lies about 250m SE of it and is marked by a buoy. A huge pile of min eral waste stands on the S entrance point and four large chimneys are situated on the hills rising steeply behind the town.
