Kumano Nada (33°55'N., 136°30'E.) is formed between Daio Saki and Shiono Misaki, 75 miles SW, the S extremity of Kii Hanto. The coast forming the NW shore of Kumano Nada is for the most part indented, rocky, and faced with steep cliffs; the land gradually increases in elevation as the latitude decreases. Most of the inlets are small and exposed to both wind and sea.
