KANDAVU ISLAND

Kandavu Island (19°00'S., 178°15'E.), the farthest S of the principal island of the Fiji Islands group, is usually the first land sighted by vessels coming from the SW. The island is mountainous and Nambukelevu(Mount Washington) (19°07'S., 177°59'E.), its highest and most conspicuous peak, rises to a height of 805m nearly 2 miles within its W extremity.
