East Jeddore Fisheries Wharf

Jeddore Harbour is not my favourite anchorage on Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore. I've run aground in here twice. It does however offer a convenient stop-over a few hours down wind (usually) from Halifax Harbour, and if need be some limited services can be accessed from the fish plant's wharf.

Despite the wide expanse of water available, the channel in this harbour is very narrow, and you must pay very close attention to the buoys, your depth sounder and GPS. There are two good anchorages up the channel, but also just off the main Fish Plant Jetty of East Jeddore.

Up the main channel you can anchor at the head of Myers Point and Highway #7. Alternatively to the east at the head of the bay is Jeddore Oyster Ponds where there is a restaurant and museum.

Given my experience running aground I always try to enter Jeddore on a rising tide with good light. The bottom is largely muddy, so if you run aground you probably won't hurt much. There are very few services immediately available here, but if you go ashore at the fish plant and it is operating you may find Ice, and a ride into town.
