Islote Nihuel (42°38'S., 72°56'W.) lies nearly 4 miles W of Punta Tengo. Foul ground, with rocks awash, extends about 0.5 mile NW and about 1 mile S from the islet. Islote Nihuel can be passed on either side, but the channel to the E is recom mended as it is straight, and passes well clear of the foul ground extending S from the islet.
