Henvey Inlet is the next available general anchorage area north of Sandy Bay. While accessible off the small craft route, you first have to get through the shallows of Rogers Gut. There’s only a thin strip of soundings on chart 2204 (sheet 1) then leading from Rogers Island to the inlet, and you have to stick to them rigorously. A few years ago a trawler lost the line and punched in the bow on a granite ledge. Only the fact that the forward water tank, which the impact punctured, was integral to the hull, saved the boat from flooding and sinking right then and there. These soundings take you between two islands just before Continuation A, and along this narrowing there are fine opportunities for tying to the rock wall. You can also press on further to a number of other anchoring options in the inlet, including The Flower Pot. The accessibility of the inlet may improve in the future, as the Henvey First Nation has development plans for the reserve lands along the south side of the inlet.
