Golfo de Montijo (7°38'N., 81°07'W.), entered between Punta Brava on the W and Punta Duartes, 16 miles ESE, is obstructed by two islands which lie across the entrance. The channel of approach leads E of these islands and extends 17 miles N to the mouths of the Rio San Pablo and the Rio San Pedro. The W side of the gulf is obstructed by extensive shallow flats intersected by shoal passages.
