Taylor HeadTaylor HeadSlipped through Gates Passage, rounded Taylor head and motored a solid 12 hours, slipped through Eastern Passage entrance to Halifax Harbour, alongside Shearwater Sail Training Center for showers, moored at Back Cove of McNabbs Island in Halifax Harbour.

Thursday we had anchored near Sheet Harbour and Friday we anchored just off Shearwater Sail Base in Halifax Harbour in behind McNabbs’ Island. We docked at Shearwater first and because Brent and Erika are involved in the Sea Cadet Program, we were able to use their facilities to shower. (There are 3 things that boaters Really appreciate on shore - flush toilets, unlimited hot water showers, and ice cream.)

Thursday, Friday and Saturday were all traversed on calm seas. We were disappointed that we were unable to sail as much as we had wanted to but the plus was that with the nice clear weather we did see quite a bit more than we would have if the weather had been bad. Brent and Erika said that even on their way up to St. Peters, they saw very little of the shore because of the rain and fog. The final day, Sunday, we crossed St. Margaret’s Bay and Mahone Bay and were able to actually sail for the last couple of hours.
