Day 33 - Mill Lake, Collins Inlet to Sportsman’s Inn, Killarney
Imagine, we actually slept in this morning until 7:30. During the winter that would be an early rise for us but it seemed late today. Upped our anchor around 9:50 as did the three SeaRays anchored in the same bay and we all headed for Killarney. This entailed going back down the lake, then hanging a left back into Collins Inlet.
Miles and miles of rock and water and slowly threading our way through. Phil and I decided that all the storm-stayed days and rocky waves and windy weather were worth it just to see this part of the trip. On the eastern shore of the fjord is Killarney Provincial Park, which is a great park for hiking and canoeing. Late last night we noticed a tent and some people on a rock not too far away and this morning we noticed that the tent had been moved from under the trees right out onto the rocky point. Suspect the flies were awful. Just before we left, they came past in 4 kayaks.
We followed the SeaRays all through the inlet until the light indicating open water and then we passed them and zoomed across open water to the entrance to Killarney. We radioed ahead and reserved a spot for two nights at the Sportman’s Inn where we have stayed before and it turned out to be a good move. We heard the 3 boats we had left behind trying to get into one of the other dockages and they were all full. They got berths here at the Inn and then we sat and watched a whole fleet of 10 different size SeaRays from the US come into the marina they had tried to get into. Obviously having some sort of tour or rally.
"Follow The Leader" through the Inlet
Had a quick lunch and then got out the trolley for a walk to Pitfields, the grocery store for some supplies, enough to get us through 3-4 days before we get to Little Current, Manitoulin.
Just trying to get this off for now as I think we may actually have an e-mail connection here.
