Tiree (56°30'N., 6°54'W.) and Coll (56°38'N., 6°33'W.) are contiguous islands lying on a subterranean pla teau which extends SW to include Skerryvore and adjacent rocky shoals. Tiree and Coll maintain communication with the Skerryvore Light mainland. Tiree, a low island with a plain near its center and a high promontory at its S end, is indented by bays fronted by rocky shoals.
