Cockburn Town (24°03'N., 74°32'W.) (World Port Index No. 10006), the administrative center for the island as well as for Rum Cay, lies on the W side of San Salvador Island. It is only on this side that there is suitable anchorage. Crooked Island Passage to Caicos Passage
