AKASHI KAIKYO

Akashi Kaikyo (Akasi Kaikyo) (34°37'N., 135°01'E.), connecting Osaka Wan and Harima Nada, is about 2 miles wide. The strait is deep and free from dangers, but the tidal currents are strong and in some places set across the fairway. A bridge, with a vertical clearance of 65m, spans Akashi Kaikyo at its narrowest part.
